A Lagos-based engineer, Olufemi Fasehun, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), accusing the Officer-in-Charge of the Zone 2 Monitoring Unit, CSP Taofik Tijani, of gross abuse of office and unlawful interference in a land matter.

In the petition dated 29th of June, 2025 and addressed to the IGP, Fasehun claimed that CSP Tijani is acting in concert with ‘landgrabbers’ to forcefully take over his family property located at 10 Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to the petition, Fasehun narrated that on three separate occasions, June 4, 5, and 20, 2025, armed police officers from the Zone 2 Command, led by CSP Tijani invaded his property without any court warrant or legal authorization.

During the operations, Fasehun claimed that police officers arrested all persons found on the premises, locked his residence, sealed Paradox Lounge situated next door, and shut down a newly completed 14-unit terraced building on Olayiwola Street.

The petition reads in part: “These actions were carried out without the presence of a court sheriff, no legal documentation was shown, and no prior invitation was extended to me. I was later told at Zone 2 that the action was based on a contempt of court petition filed against me by one Tajudeen Egunaye.”

Fasehun further claimed that the said petition is a ploy by Egunaye and his alleged sponsor, Tomori Williams to use the police to unlawfully dispossess him of his legally owned property.

He stated that the court case referenced in the petition was discontinued and that no new legal process was served on him.

Fasehun further noted that a similar attempt was made in 2023 through the Police FCID, Alagbon, but it failed after investigations affirmed his valid title and dismissed the opposition’s claims.

He expressed shock that despite this, the same individuals have continued to intimidate him using the police.

“CSP Taofik Tijani never invited me to respond to any petition. Instead, he acted solely on the words of these individuals and moved against my property with armed men.”

Fasehun, who claimed that the disputed property has been in his family for over 60 years, described the continued police presence and sealing of the premises as illegal and oppressive.

He has now filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit against both CSP Tijani and his oppositions, while appealing to the IGP to urgently investigate the actions of the Zone 2 Monitoring Unit and bring the matter under lawful oversight.
