Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 elections, has once more criticized the coalition of opposition politicians that recently chose the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their political platform for the 2027 elections.

During an appearance on the television program The Morning Brief, Sowore said he cannot work with many of the people in the coalition because of their past actions and lack of integrity.

“For me, joining a coalition is both a personal and political decision,” he said. “There are too many individuals involved whom I can’t sit across from without feeling like I’m compromising my values.”

He accused many in the coalition of betraying the Nigerian people, describing them as individuals who have acted dishonestly and selfishly, and who lack character and credibility.

“No amount of conditions or promises can change who they are,” he added. “These are people who are used to doing wrong, being corrupt, and taking advantage of the public.”

Sowore stressed that his views are based on documented facts, not just personal opinions. He said that while some Nigerians genuinely want to improve the country, others—both in government and in opposition—are only preparing to exploit the people further.

The opposition coalition, preparing for the 2027 elections, is made up of several high-profile figures, including:

  • Atiku Abubakar (former Vice President)
  • Peter Obi (2023 Labour Party presidential candidate)
  • Rauf Aregbesola (former Governor of Osun State)
  • Nasir El-Rufai (former Governor of Kaduna State)
  • David Mark (former Senate President)

These politicians have united under the ADC platform in a bid to challenge the current leadership.
