Nigerian singer and producer, Terry G, has addressed long-standing allegations that he stole the hit song Pass Me Your Love from fellow artiste AY.Com, calling the claims “pure ignorance.”
The controversy, which resurfaced years after the song’s release, suggested that Terry G had wrongly taken credit for the track, despite only being featured as a guest artiste.
Many critics accused him of performing the song at shows and events as though it were solely his.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Free Madness crooner defended himself, stating:
“To those saying I stole ‘Pass Me Your Love’ from AY.Com— that’s pure ignorance. So I don’t have the right to perform a song I collaborated on? Your favourite artists do it all the time, but when it’s me, it becomes a problem. Hypocrisy at its finest.”
Terry G also clarified that the song was never added to any of his albums and emphasized that the issue had nothing to do with ownership but rather collaboration. He further blamed the controversy for contributing to the decline of AY.Com’s music career.
“Some of you ruined AY’s moment with your noise, not me. As for my shine, nobody can block it. You no reach,” he added defiantly.
Pass Me Your Love was one of the biggest hits of the late 2000s.
