Shettima arrives in London to bring Buhari’s remains back home

Former Vice-President Kashim Shettima and President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff arrived in London on Monday morning to bring back the remains of Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari who died in London on Sunday.
Shettima was received by Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar and Governor Babangana Zulum of Borno State among others on arrival in London.
The Vice-President departed Abuja for London late Sunday on President Tinubu’s directive following the announcement of the former President Muhammadu Buhari’s death.
Tinubu announced the passing of his predecessor, former president Buhari, who died on Sunday in London at approximately 4:30 pm.

Tinubu directed Shettima and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, to proceed to the United Kingdom to accompany Buhari’s body back to Nigeria.
Buhari, who was 82, served as Nigeria’s democratically-elected president from 2015 to 2023.
He also served as Military Head of State between January 1984 and August 1985.
Tinubu has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff as a mark of respect for the departed leader.
The late Buhari is expected to be buried in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State whenever his remains arrived in Nigeria.
