As Honourable Rasaq Olushola Ajala prepares to conclude his second and final term as Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA), he is set to leave a remarkable legacy defined by transformative, people-oriented projects that will long stand as a model for local governance in Nigeria.
On Friday, July 18, 2025, Ajala will host dignitaries and community stakeholders at the grand commissioning of the multi-billion Naira Bola Ahmed Tinubu Legacy Building—an iconic, ultra-modern administrative edifice located at the Ilupeju Secretariat along Town Planning Way.
The facility, named in honour of Nigeria’s President and Commander-in-Chief, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is poised to become a landmark in local government infrastructure across the country.
It is a multi-functional complex equipped with world-class amenities tailored to meet the cultural, intellectual, social, and economic aspirations of residents of the LCDA, Lagos State, and the nation.
The building boasts:
A 2,500-capacity soundproof event hall, capable of hosting three concurrent events without acoustic interference
Changing rooms for guests and hosts
A Resource Centre with an E-Library to promote research and digital learning
Digitally equipped office suites with state-of-the-art multimedia infrastructure
A Legislative Chamber for council sessions
An in-house health clinic for medical emergencies
A dedicated lounge for networking and relaxation
Electric lift access for convenience and inclusivity
The commissioning is expected to be attended by top-ranking dignitaries, including:
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio
Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas
Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu
Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, among others.
Also slated for commissioning is a 9.2-kilometre road infrastructure project traversing 33 streets within the LCDA—another initiative designed to improve mobility, drive commerce, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
In addition, nine Solar-Powered Cubicles—each located in one of the LCDA’s nine political wards—will also be unveiled. These units are tailored to provide sustainable, off-grid power solutions for critical community needs.
To cap off the day, the council will officially hand over brand-new buses to selected stakeholders, including the Police, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Chapter), Community Development Councils (CDCs), religious associations, market leaders, and local government staff.
The planned series of events reflect Hon. Ajala’s unwavering commitment to people-first governance. His administration has also made notable strides in education, healthcare, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and social security, reinforcing his reputation as a visionary and inclusive leader.
As he bows out of office, observers say Ajala has etched his name in the annals of the LCDA’s history, and many believe higher responsibilities await him in the near future.
