Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has condemned the reaction of some Nigerians who celebrated the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, PM News has learnt.
Following the announcement of Buhari’s death by presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, public reactions were sharply divided.
While some expressed sorrow, others were seen rejoicing, citing Buhari’s administration as a period of hardship and economic decline.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Igbokwe expressed dismay over the jubilation.
He questioned why a former national leader would be mocked in death by the citizens he once led.
He wrote:
“Our stupidity is getting to the point of no return. We have just added another terrible character to our tradition by mocking the dead as if we will live for 1000 years.
I pray that even this ugly and horrible behavior will pass away.”
