Why Wizkid is always sick of me – Ayra Starr

Award-winning Nigerian singer Ayra Starr has shared insight into her close friendship with Grammy-winning artiste Wizkid, revealing that he is often “sick” of her because of how much she tries to make him laugh.

Speaking during an interview on the eTalk show, the Rush crooner described Wizkid as not only an iconic musician but also a funny and supportive friend.

“Wizkid is an amazing friend and an amazing person to be around,” Ayra Starr said. “I could learn so much from him. He’s hilarious and we have the same humour, so he’s always sick of me because I try to make him laugh or something.”

She admitted that she was nervous during their first studio session together, intimidated by Wizkid’s legendary status. But as time passed, she became more comfortable, eventually forming a playful and creative bond with him.

“During my first session, I was panicking because it was Wizkid,” she confessed. “But now we’ve done our music video together and I’m older. He’s always telling me how much I’ve grown.”

Their collaboration has led to hit projects, including their latest track “Gimme Dat,” which has been well received by fans.

Ayra Starr also cheekily added, “He’s such an amazing artist and having such an icon working with me shows how much of an amazing artist I am… I had to sneak that in.”
