Quick Read

Sanwo-Olu concluded by saying, “We’re bringing a world-class sporting event to our shores. This is a new chapter for Lagos, and I can’t wait for the world to see what we have to offer.”

Lagos is set to make history by becoming the first African city to host the E1 Racing Championship. The event will take place on October 4th and 5th, 2025.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the news after attending the E1 Championship in Monaco. He described the experience as a reminder of how powerful innovation and bold ideas can be.

Sanwo-Olu said hosting the E1 Championship is a major moment for Lagos. He believes it shows that the city is ready to take part in global discussions about clean energy, sustainability, and new technology in marine transport.

He also sees the event as a chance to showcase what makes Lagos unique — its people, culture, and energy.

The governor thanked Afreximbank for their strong support, especially their investment in Team Drogba, one of the teams in the competition. He said their support reflects belief in Lagos and its potential.

Sanwo-Olu concluded by saying,
