Popular Nigerian social media activist and critic, VeryDarkMan (VDM), has publicly slammed his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, over a cautionary post advising him to avoid taking unnecessary risks.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Adeyanju had warned VDM that “if anything happens to you today, everyone will move on by tomorrow,” urging him to act cautiously.

The post, which was meant as a protective gesture, did not sit well with the controversial influencer.

Reacting strongly, VeryDarkMan expressed deep disappointment, particularly because the statement came from someone he regards as a comrade.

“First thing first, I’m really disappointed in my lawyer, Deji Adeyanju… especially because you are a comrade,” VDM said in a video response. “If it was an ordinary Nigerian that said this, I would have assumed they don’t know better.”

He went on to criticize what he described as a fear tactic used by political elites to silence voices of dissent. VDM argued that death is inevitable and that moving on is part of life — citing examples from global figures to make his point.

“Jesus Christ died, the world moved on. The Pope died, the world moved on. Buhari died, Nigeria moved on. So who do you think is special?” he asked.

He described such warnings as cowardly and meant to instill fear in people who speak truth to power. “That talk na coward talk. That’s what politicians use to silence people,” he added.

VeryDarkMan, known for his bold activism and fearlessness, maintained that risks come with the territory. He stated that even those who stay quiet or take no risks still face danger, referencing incidents in different Nigerian states like Benue, Borno, Delta, and Enugu.

“You think you’re important? We are all nothing. You add so much importance to your life when you are nothing,” he concluded.
