President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has applauded Nigeria’s Super Falcons for their hard-fought victory over South Africa in the semi-final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
He described their performance as “superlative” and a reflection of the Nigerian spirit.
The Nigerian women defeated South African women 2-1 in WAFCON semi-finals in Morocco on Tuesday.
In a message posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle after the match, the President congratulated the team on their triumph, calling it “a magnificent display of grit, talent, and the indomitable Nigerian spirit.”
“You have made the nation proud. Keep soaring. Don’t stop until you bring the trophy home,” Tinubu wrote, urging the Falcons to push for a historic 10th WAFCON title.
He assured the team of unwavering support from Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, adding, “We are waiting to receive the cup.”
The Super Falcons have now advanced to the final, aiming to extend their dominance in African women’s football.
