Sokoto state government has placed a ban on sign out parties and celebrations for all secondary schools in the state.

Prof Ahmad Ladan Ala, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, announced this on Thursday. He stated that the ban was implemented due to an increase in student misconduct and vandalism during ‘signing out’ parties.

He noted that the ban affects both public and private schools in Sokoto state. He also stated that the practice has taken a new form from the original idea.

“All principals have been directed to take immediate steps to prevent students from organising or participating in any form of signing-out celebrations, whether within or outside school premises,” the commissioner stated.

Ala also urged parents to support the new directive while advising them to not support indiscipline in their children. He encouraged them to promote discipline and good values.
