Reality TV star and influencer Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has stirred online conversations after calling out Nigerian youths for their perceived lack of involvement in national development.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the former Big Brother Naija housemate expressed deep disappointment over what she described as the timidity and misplaced priorities of today’s generation.

She accused young Nigerians of focusing more on migrating abroad (“japa”), social media trends, and personal comfort rather than making sacrifices for the country’s future.

“My generation of Nigerians are the dumbest and most cowardly,” she wrote. “Funny how we blame the ones before us for ruining Nigeria. Ex-President Buhari in his 20s was part of a coup, fighting for what he believed in.”

Tacha compared the current generation to young Nigerians of the past who, she said, boldly took stands in national matters and even risked their lives for change. She lamented that instead of continuing that legacy, many young people now prioritize crafting catchy tweets and chasing clout.

“We’ve not just failed the next generation, we’ve buried it,” she declared.

In the face of expected backlash, Tacha clarified that her remarks were not targeted at any individual but rather at a collective generational attitude. She defended her own activism, stating:

“Y’all ask, ‘what have you done?’ I used my voice. I speak, I show up, I refuse to be quiet… It’s about a whole generation that is too afraid to prioritise the nation’s interest over their own comfort.”
