Tinubu to opposition: Jump off sinking ship, join APC

President Bola Tinubu has thrown a jab at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC), urging opposition politicians to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking at the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday, Tinubu said there was nothing wrong with abandoning “a sinking ship” or walking away from what he described as a “coalition of confusion.”

“It’s not a bad idea to abandon a sinking ship and be absent from a coalition of confusion,” the President said.

He also welcomed Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno, who recently defected from PDP to APC.

“With the space we have created to allow aspiring people to join us, our doors are still open and we should embrace them wholeheartedly,” Tinubu added.

The meeting also saw the party confirm Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, as its new National Chairman. He replaces Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who resigned on June 27.
