“Come back home,” PDP governors urge ‘impatient’ defectors

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has told those who “impatiently” defected from the party that they can still return.
The former ruling party has recently been bedeviled by a gale of defections by disgruntled members. Among those who have abandoned the party are former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Veteran journalist Dele Momodu who are now with the African Democratic Congress(ADC).
Earlier than that, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and his Akwa Ibom counterpart Umo Eno dumped the PDP and made their way to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
There are also several members and former members of the National Assembly who have parted ways with the PDP.
But speaking on behalf his colleagues, Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed who is also the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, said the party was open to welcoming back former members who left. out of impatience.
Governor Mohammed who was speaking at the party’ s PDP’s 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday in Abuja, said, “We sympathise with those who became impatient and left, but certainly, they will come to understand. We are keeping the door open for them to return, within a reasonable timeframe.”
He also said efforts were being made to ensure that party remain united.
“We are working quietly behind the scenes with the NWC, the Board of Trustees (BoT), our lawmakers in the National Assembly, and party chapters across the six geopolitical zones, to ensure we remain united,” he said.
