Asisat Oshoala speaks on her future with Super Falcons after WAFCON victory
Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala has shut down talks of retirement after Nigeria’s dramatic WAFCON victory over Morocco.
The six-time African Player of the Year dismissed the speculation after Nigeria’s stunning 3-2 comeback win over Morocco in the WAFCON final. Speaking to reporters, the Barcelona forward laughed off the retirement claims as nothing but pure agenda.
“I don’t know where that came from, but agenda must agend. I get it, but I’m not bothered. I’m still here. I’m still playing. I’m still doing my job. That’s what I’m focused on,” she said.
Oshoala, 30, was included in Nigeria’s 23-player squad for the tournament, playing a key role even when not in the spotlight.
Her impact on the game remains undeniable. Since bursting onto the scene in 2013, she has collected four WAFCON titles, which include 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2024. and sealed her name in history as the first African to score in three consecutive FIFA Women’s World Cups.
