Kuburat Lawal takes helm as Ikeja Rotary’s 58th President

The Rotary Club of Ikeja has inaugurated Rotarian Kuburat Lawal as its 58th President during a vibrant ceremony at The Airport Hotel, Ikeja, on Sunday.

As the club’s second female president in its 58-year history, Lawal, a director in the Lagos State Public Service, vowed to advance community service, youth empowerment, and sustainable development.

In her address, Lawal outlined her vision, stating, “Every role I’ve held from Treasurer to Rotary Foundation Chair has been driven by a collective commitment to impact. This year offers a fresh opportunity for deeper community engagement and inclusive growth.”

Her agenda includes completing a vocational training center at Ikeja Junior High School, equipping it for trades like hairdressing, fashion design, electrical installation, and catering, alongside ongoing maternal and child health programs and youth development initiatives.

Immediate past President Rotarian Kayode Situ highlighted the club’s continuity, noting the vocational center’s foundation laid during his tenure, which Lawal pledged to fully equip.

Guest speaker Olaniyi Yusuf, Managing Partner at Verraki Partners, urged Rotary to amplify its impact through unified goals, membership growth, and support for Rotarians’ well-being, citing the club’s historic success in the global polio eradication campaign.

District Governor for Rotary District 9111, Rotarian Henry, praised Lawal’s leadership and called for support for the Rotary Foundation.

The ceremony ended with a successful fundraising effort to bolster the club’s humanitarian projects, reinforcing its commitment to service, leadership, and community transformation.
