The Federal Government has urged health workers, particularly nurses, to end their ongoing industrial action, assuring them that their grievances can be addressed through constructive dialogue.
Government officials are scheduled to hold talks with the leadership of nurses and doctors on Friday in an effort to resolve the dispute and restore normalcy to healthcare services across the country.
This was made known by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, during a press briefing after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and chaired by President Bola Tinubu.
According to Professor Pate, the government has already taken steps to tackle the key issues that prompted the strike, with the aim of reaching a peaceful resolution.
He also revealed that the Council approved the establishment of a new Oncology Centre at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan.
He described the development as part of the Tinubu administration’s broader commitment to transforming the health sector and improving access to quality care nationwide.
