The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says operatives from its Benin Zonal Directorate have arrested 47 suspected internet fraudsters in the city.
According to a Facebook post by the anti-graft Commission, the suspects were arrested from different locations within the Edo State capital.
The EFCC said they were arrested based on credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet- related fraud.
The post read: “Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday July 31, 2025 arrested 47 suspected internet fraudsters at different locations within Benin City, Edo State.
“The suspects were arrested based on credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet- related fraud.
“Items recovered from them include 16 exotic cars and phones.
“The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
