Six Law School students abducted in Benue regain freedom

Police said the six students of Yola Campus of Nigeria Law School who were abducted in Benue State while travelling from Anambra State to their school have regained regained freedom.
The students were abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers late hours of Saturday, July 26, 2025, along the dangerous road linking Wukari in Taraba State to Benue State.
The kidnappers had earlier demanded N20 million ransom for each of the students identified as Rev. Ernest Okafor, Ogbuka Fabian, Nwamma Philip, Okechukwu Obadiegwu, Obalem Emmanuel, and Obiorah.
However, it cannot be confirmed if any ransom was paid to secure freedom of the the students from their abductors as at the the time of this report.
However, the Benue Police Command in a statement signed by its spokesperson Udeme Edet, in Makurdi on Friday said they were safely released and reunited with their families on Friday morning.
The police statement reads: “Please be informed that the police have successfully rescued six law students of the Yola campus, who were abducted on July 26, 2025, while traveling from Anambra State to Adamawa State, have been safely released and united with their families this morning, August 1, 2025.
“Police authorities confirmed the rescue, assuring the public of their commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property.”
