Bimbo Ademoye calls out scammer over ₦1M family fraud

Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye has taken to social media to call out a suspected scammer who allegedly defrauded her sister, nephew, and a close friend of over ₦1 million.

In a series of Instagram posts, the award-winning actress claimed that her family members were lured by a fraudulent Instagram page, @getawaysbyelliee, which used a woman’s photo and fake luxury apartment listings to appear legitimate.

According to Bimbo, her sister and young nephew were scammed out of ₦650,000 under the guise of a “discounted 3-night getaway.” She stated the scam deeply affected her nephew, who had been looking forward to the vacation, and vowed to track down the culprit.

“You don’t mess with my family, ESPECIALLY my nephew. Now we have a problem,” she wrote. “The phone number is in the conversation and that’s their page. I will find you, my love, and I’d handle you accordingly.”

In a follow-up post, Bimbo revealed the same scammer also defrauded her friend of ₦500,000 just a day earlier, adding that changing the Instagram handle wouldn’t be enough to escape consequences.

“Apparently, it’s like a ring. There’s plenty of them. They’re just using poor Beni’s pic to scam people. I’m on to you sweetie. Don’t ever mess with mine,” she warned.

The actress also clarified that the original person in the photo used on the scam account is also a victim and had no involvement in the crime.

This isn’t the first time Bimbo Ademoye has spoken out against wrongdoing. She recently shared her experience dealing with a toxic friend who created fake accounts to harass her online.
