Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have advanced to the final of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket after a hard-fought 75–68 victory over Senegal.

The win marks Nigeria’s 10th triumph over Senegal in 15 encounters, reinforcing their dominance in one of Africa’s fiercest basketball rivalries. Senegal last defeated Nigeria in 2011, and since then, D’Tigress have maintained a decade-long upper hand.

Nigeria took control early, winning the first quarter 22–17 and narrowly edging the second 21–20. Senegal responded strongly in the third, dominating 21–9.

However, the Nigerians rallied in the final quarter with a commanding 23–10 finish to seal the win.

D’Tigress will face the winner of the Mali vs. South Sudan semifinal in Sunday’s championship game.
