We made a pact – Atalanta CEO reveals Lookman’s transfer condition

Ademola lookman

Atalanta CEO Antonio Percassi has laid the cards on the table concerning Ademola Lookman’s future at the club, insisting the Nigerian forward can only leave for a “super top club” outside Italy.

Percassi, speaking in a quote shared by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Monday, revealed that a gentlemen’s agreement had been reached with Lookman last year following a rejected €20m offer from French giants PSG.

“We made a pact with Lookman in 2023 when we turned down PSG’s bid,” Percassi stated. “We told him: you’ll leave in 2025 but only to a super top club and not in Italy. That remains the condition. We decide.”

Lookman, who joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022, has notched up 52 goals in 117 games for the Serie A side his most prolific run yet. However, his future at the Bergamo-based club has recently come under scrutiny.

On Sunday, the Super Eagles forward fired a shot of his own, accusing the club of breaking promises. In a public statement, Lookman confirmed he had submitted a transfer request, citing “many months of broken promises” and “unfair treatment.”

Despite the tension, the 27-year-old maintained a respectful tone, noting that he gave his all to the club on and off the pitch.

“I’ve always worn the shirt with pride and represented Atalanta with heart, passion, and dedication,” Lookman wrote. “I’ve given everything — not just as a footballer, but as a man.”
