The leadership crisis rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kogi State deepened on Monday as the State Working Committee (SWC) reaffirmed the expulsion of the embattled state chairman, Kingsley Ogga, insisting he no longer holds any position in the party.
This position was restated during a meeting of the SWC and critical stakeholders held at Lilly Ground Hotel in Lokoja.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the party’s State Public Relations Officer, Mr. Johnson Tayo, dismissed Ogga’s purported return to office as “a figment of his imagination.”
Tayo clarified that Ogga was expelled in 2022 following due process, beginning at the ward level, ratified by the local government chapter, and upheld by the state executive.
“There has been no reversal of that decision. His expulsion remains valid, and he no longer has the authority to act or speak on behalf of the ADC,” Tayo said.
The party also debunked reports from Ogga’s faction claiming the suspension of Hon. Leke Abejide, the member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Tayo described the claim as laughable and baseless, noting that no such action was ever taken by the recognised organs of the party.
“Ogga’s continued impersonation is not only misleading but damaging to the party. He has been forging signatures of party members to advance his agenda, and we are calling on security agencies to investigate and apprehend him for impersonation,” he added.
The SWC used the occasion to reiterate its support for Hon. Abejide, whom it recognised as the leader of the ADC in Kogi and at the national level.
“Hon. Leke Abejide is the only elected representative of the ADC across Nigeria. His leadership is not only legitimate but sacrosanct,” Tayo declared.
