The Lagos State Government has sealed Vaniti Club House, located on Adeola Odeku Street in Victoria Island, following repeated violations of traffic regulations and persistent obstruction of public roads.

The enforcement action was carried out by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), led by the agency’s General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, and its Rescue and Compliance Unit.

The move follows several months of warnings, stakeholder engagement, and public awareness campaigns aimed at curbing illegal parking and highway encroachment facilitated by the club.

According to the government, Vaniti Club’s activities had consistently breached provisions of the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018, which prohibits actions that obstruct traffic or endanger road users.

Authorities said the club’s continuous use of roadside spaces for parking has not only worsened congestion in the high-traffic area but also posed risks to public safety.

Despite repeated warnings and sensitisation efforts, the club allegedly failed to comply with the regulations, prompting the state to invoke its powers to shut down the premises indefinitely.

“This is not an isolated incident,” said Mr. Bakare-Oki. “It signals the beginning of a wider compliance drive targeting clubs, event centres, and recreational facilities across the state that persist in using public spaces for private gain.”

He stressed that the government would not tolerate any activity, corporate or social, that compromises traffic order or endangers commuters.

Residents and road users have been urged to report any establishments causing obstructions or public nuisances to LASTMA via its toll-free line: 0800-00-LASMA (080000527862).

The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing traffic laws and building a safe, orderly, and livable urban environment for all.
