Diddy denied bail again, judge gives reason as sentencing looms

Diddy

Sean “Diddy” Combs has once again been told he’s not going anywhere.

A federal judge on Monday, August 4, denied the music mogul’s $50 million bail request, ruling for the fifth time that the 55-year-old remains a “risk of flight or danger” ahead of his October 3 sentencing.

Combs has been behind bars at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center since his September 2024 arrest. His legal team argued for release under strict supervision, citing his age and alleged health issues. But Judge Arun Subramanian wasn’t buying it.

According to reports, the judge said Combs “fails to satisfy his burden to demonstrate an entitlement to release,” adding that there were no “exceptional reasons” that would justify setting him free.

The denial comes just days after Virginia “Gina” Huynh who identified in court as “Victim-3”  shocked many by writing a letter in support of her ex, asking the court to grant him bail. Huynh, going public for the first time, said Combs should be allowed to care for his family while under court supervision.

Diddy was convicted on July 2 of transportation to engage in prostitution, which is a federal crime that carries up to 20 years in prison. He was cleared of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, but Judge Subramanian still refused to release him, even temporarily.

His lawyers had hoped his high-profile status, medical needs, and family obligations would sway the court. Instead, the judge pointed out that unless there’s “clear and convincing evidence” that Combs wouldn’t flee or pose a danger, bail couldn’t be granted.

This means by the time his sentence is handed down in October, Diddy will have already spent over a year in jail, time that will count toward his eventual prison term.
