Obidients write Peter Obi, raise concerns over exclusion from coalition activities

The Obidient Movement, a youth-driven political group supporting former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, has expressed dissatisfaction over what it sees as its exclusion from important coalition activities.
In a letter dated July 29, 2025, and signed by the group’s National Coordinator, Dr. Tanko Yunusa, the Obidients said they have been left out of major decision-making processes within the coalition.
The group alleged that its representatives are not being included in strategic meetings or given roles in various committees across the country.
The letter stated that this exclusion is damaging the trust needed to build a strong and lasting political alliance.
The group emphasized that despite their continued support for the vision of a “New Nigeria,” there must be reforms to ensure fairness, inclusion, and transparency.
They also insisted that the significant contributions of Obidients both online and on the ground should be recognized in how responsibilities and positions are distributed within the coalition.
In a related development, Olusegun Dada, the Special Adviser on New Media to President Bola Tinubu, said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) remains confident in its ability to win future elections.
Speaking on Channels Television, he credited the party’s success in the 2023 presidential election to a strong digital media strategy.
Dada noted that many who now belong to the current coalition were previously part of the Obidient Movement, suggesting that the ruling party has experience dealing with such political opponent.
