Romford horror: Nigerian granny found dead after brutal stabbing

A 60-year-old Nigerian woman, Nkiru Chima, has been confirmed dead after being found with multiple stab wounds in Romford, East London.

The shocking incident occurred on Saturday, July 27, at a residence in Bushy Close, where officers from the Metropolitan Police responded to a welfare call around 7pm.

Police say Ms. Chima was pronounced dead at the scene, with detectives now linking her gruesome killing to the death of a 20-year-old man who was found on the train tracks at Romford station just hours earlier.

“This man was known to Nkiru,” said Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, who’s leading the investigation. “We are confident both deaths are connected.”

The young man’s death is being handled by the British Transport Police, while Nkiru’s murder is under active investigation by the Met.

No arrests have been made so far, but police are calling on members of the public who may have useful information to come forward.

“We are grateful to the community for their support so far,” Yorke added. “Our thoughts remain with Nkiru’s family at this difficult time.”

The victim’s family is currently being supported by specially trained officers.
