President Bola Tinubu has nominated Engr. Abdullahi Garba Ramat as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
This is contained in a statement issued by Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga on Thursday.
Ramat, 39, is a seasoned electrical engineer and administrator with a doctorate in Strategic Management, among other qualifications.
In addition, the President has put forward two nominees for commissioner roles within the Commission: Mr Abubakar Yusuf as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs and Dr Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Commissioner for Finance and Management Services.
All three nominations are subject to confirmation by the Senate.
The commission’s acting chairman will continue to hold his position until the confirmation of the new chairman-designate.
The President charged the nominees to bring their expertise to bear in delivering on the administration’s goals for the power sector.
