Diddy begs to serve jail term in $48.5m Miami mansion, not prison

Diddy begs to serve sentence in $48.5m Miami mansion, not prison

Embattled music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is pulling out all the stops to avoid doing time behind bars.

The Bad Boy Records founder, recently convicted on prostitution charges, is reportedly preparing to ask a judge to let him serve his sentence from the comfort of his luxury $48.5 million Miami mansion, rather than face hard time in federal prison.

Combs’ legal team, led by top defence lawyer Marc Agnifilo, is expected to push for home confinement ahead of the sentencing date in October, according to a report by TMZ.

Agnifilo claims the hip-hop mogul needs therapy to tackle anger and substance abuse issues and insists the federal prison system isn’t equipped to give him the help he needs.

“He wants to heal, and he believes confinement at home with access to treatment is the only way,” a source familiar with the defence strategy told reporters.

This comes after a judge rejected Combs’ attempt to post a staggering $50 million bail to return to the very same Miami estate where prosecutors say he hosted his notorious “freak-offs” — wild parties involving drugs, escorts and voyeuristic acts.

Combs has been in custody since his September arrest and was acquitted last month of the more serious racketeering and sex trafficking charges after a dramatic trial in Manhattan federal court.

While he walked free from those charges, the court still found him guilty of prostitution-related offences, which carry a sentence of up to three years.

Now, as sentencing looms, the fallen rap mogul is hoping his mega-mansion on a private Miami island can double as his prison cell.
