Ecobank celebrates Oba Sijuwade’s legacy in Lagos Art Exhibition

A captivating memorial art exhibition, “The Crown and the Legacy,” opened at Ecobank’s Head Office on Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island, Lagos, honouring the life and reign of His Imperial Majesty Oba Okunade Adele Sijuwade (Olubuse II), the 50th Ooni of Ife, who ruled from 1980 to 2015.
Organized by EPAC Studios in partnership with the Sijuwade Royal Family, the exhibition, running from August 4 to 17, marks a decade since the monarch’s passing, offering a profound tribute to his cultural and royal legacy.

Curator Dr. Oludamola Adebowale emphasized its dual role as a tribute and an educational platform, stating, “This exhibition preserves history and illuminates Yoruba heritage.” He invited monarchs, policymakers, academics, and community leaders to engage with the display.
Ecobank’s involvement reflects its commitment to African heritage, with Head of Corporate Communications Austen Osokpor stating, “Hosting this memorial exhibition in partnership with the Sijuwade Royal Family is a privilege and a reflection of our commitment to celebrating and empowering our rich, diverse communities across the continent.”
Dr. Adebowale praised Ecobank’s support, urging more corporate investment in cultural projects, saying, “Ecobank’s involvement is an exemplary model.”
The exhibition features artworks capturing Oba Sijuwade’s reign, celebrated for advancing Yoruba traditions and fostering unity.
