2027: Osun monarch gives Tinubu condition for delivery of over 1 million votes

The Ataoja of Osogbo Land, Osun State, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Larooye II, has has said the people of the state are ready to deliver over one million votes to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election if the withheld local government allocations meant for the state are immediately released.

The Osun monarch made the demand at the grand finale of the Osun Osogbo Festival 2025, according to Thisday newspaper.

Recall that the Federal Government has refused to release federal allocations for all 30 Local Government Areas for over five months over disputed council elections.

However, Oba Olanipekun, noted that non-release of the funds has led to hardship on ordinary citizens across all 30 local government areas of Osun State.

“During the 16-eyed-lanterned event, I said Osun goddess has adopted Tinubu and will deliver Osun State in 2027, there is no need to be afraid.

“Those of you close to the president and advising him should tell him to prevail on those holding Osun LG allocation to release it for the state and when it is time for election, call on me and I will deliver for you.”

Oba Olanipekun added that the Tinubu’s administration should not single out Osun for punishment as the hardship affects citizens across party lines and all communities in the state.

“This is not about politics; this is about people. The suffering is real, the hardship visible, and the delay unjustifiable. Osun must not be punished while other states receive their constitutional entitlements,” he said

The Ataoja noted that Tinubu himself was once a victim of similar injustice as governor of Lagos State and he should not allow such condemnable action to repeat itself under his watch.

He added that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s programmes is being stifled by the financial blockade.

“If Osun receives its rightful funds, we will continue to grow and we will remember who stood by us.”

The Ataoja emphasized that the people of Osun, led by their traditional rulers, are prepared to deliver massive electoral support for President Tinubu in 2027 if only fairness prevails.

“We will deliver over one million votes, but only if fairness prevails. Let governance, not politics, guide this administration’s decisions.”

Olanipekun also urged the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers to lead an official delegation to Abuja to speak to the President on the issue.

“We are ready to speak truth to power. Osun is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, but that hope must be real for our people. Enough is enough.”

Some traditional rulers have approached me on what to do on the withheld LG fund, I don’t want to be too forward because I expected our leader of Traditional Council to summon a meeting which would be attended by us, I won’t jump the gun, because I am concerned greatly, I am the father of SSG, Governor, some traditional rulers are the fathers of the deputy governor and Chief of Staff. They should call us, the traditional rulers, we are the fathers of those in government, our leader should summon us all to go to Abuja, if we get there, I know what to say because Osun can’t be relegated to the back. “
