American rapper and singer Jordan Adebowale Adetunji has spoken up about his Nigerian heritage and why he kept his Nigerian surname as his stage name.
While speaking in an interview with The Dotty Show, Adetunji revealed that he kept his surname as his stage name as a tribute to his roots.
He expressed his pride in his tribal roots and heritage, stating that he would not change his name to look more western.
“I keep the name for a reason. I remember when I first came into the game everyone was telling me you need to change your surname that it doesn’t sound like an artist’s name. And I was like why can Justin Bieber keep his? I’m a big fan of Justin Bieber. I am proud to be Nigeria, why am I gonna hide it? You’ve got to learn how to pronounce it,” he said.
