The unlikely connection between Diddy and Trump and how it could save him

Diddy

Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and U.S. President Donald Trump may share more than celebrity status, they share what Diddy’s lawyer calls a rare “bond” born out of being on the wrong side of the justice system.

Mark Geragos, who has defended the embattled rapper for years, dropped the revelation on TMZ’s 2 Angry Men podcast while addressing speculation that Trump is weighing a presidential pardon for Combs.

Asked if Diddy would pledge allegiance to Trump in exchange for freedom, Geragos didn’t hesitate: “You want to know the truth? I think yes.”

He explained it wasn’t about loyalty to the former president but about a shared experience few understand. “There’s something about that fraternity of people who have been accused and have gone through the process that gives you an affinity,” Geragos said.

According to him, it wouldn’t surprise him if Diddy told Trump: “I now get what you went through.”

This revelation comes just days after Combs’ legal team confirmed they had initiated talks with Trump’s administration over a potential pardon.

Nicole Westmoreland, another of Diddy’s attorneys, told CNN last week: “It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon. He is a very hopeful person and I believe that he remains hopeful.”

Trump, however, has played coy, telling reporters in the Oval Office: “Nobody’s asked but I know people are thinking about it.”

Whether this “unlikely bond” will translate into presidential mercy remains to be seen, but the conversation is already happening behind closed doors.
