Police arrest three suspects in kidnap of AAUA lecturers

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three individuals in connection with the kidnapping of two lecturers from Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA), Akungba-Akoko.

The victims were abducted on Monday, August 4, at their residence in Supare Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area. They were released six days later on Sunday, August 10, following the payment of an undisclosed ransom.

DSP Olushola Ayanlade, the Police Public Relations Officer for Ondo State, confirmed the arrests in a statement made available to journalists on Monday in Akure.

He said, “Our operatives have apprehended three suspects linked to the kidnapping of the two AAUA lecturers. They are currently undergoing profiling and interrogation.”

The state Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, has ordered that the suspects and all recovered exhibits be handed over to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for further discreet and thorough investigations.

The Police Command assures the public of its commitment to tackling kidnapping and other security challenges in the state.
