In Nigeria, the mental health needs of stigmatised women, especially pregnant teens and sex workers, are often pushed to the margins.

Despite the fact that 86% of Nigerian women own a mobile phone, digital solutions are still vastly underutilised. In this gap, stigma thrives, and care becomes out of reach. BlossomCare emerged as a response to this challenge. Born from the grassroots insights of the Blossom Girls Outreach Foundation (BGOF), an award-winning non-profit dedicated to helping sex workers exit the trade, BlossomCare is a digital mental health companion.

Developed in collaboration with Eden AI, a technology company known for scaling healthcare-focused AI solutions across Africa, BlossomCare brings confidential, AI-driven emotional support directly to the phones of women who are often overlooked.

Delivered through a simple WhatsApp chat, BlossomCare offers:
* Multilingual Emotional Support: A judgment-free, always-available companion that listens and responds in English, Yoruba, or Pidgin—so no one is lost in translation.
* Tailored Referrals: Whether it’s connecting users with peer-support groups, psychologists, or legal aid, the AI ensures recommendations are personalised and private.
* Escalation to Human Care: For high-risk or complex cases, users are seamlessly handed over to BGOF’s outreach team for in-person counselling, healthcare, or safe housing.
This project was spearheaded by Abiodun Ademola, the PR/Communications Manager of BGOF. Working hand in hand with the Eden AI team, BlossomCare was born to get access to this all a user has to do is add [+27 600984476] to their phone and send it a message. It is simple with no unnecessary or extra steps.”

Behind BlossomCare is Doreen Omosele, the visionary Executive Director of BGOF. Since 2017, she has led efforts to offer counselling, vocational training, and economic empowerment to hundreds of women seeking to transition from sex work.

In 2025, her dedication was recognised on a national stage. Doreen was awarded the prestigious Governor Sanwo-Olu Social Impact Award, an honour presented at the Lagos Leadership Summit to individuals making tangible contributions to social development. From over 2,000 nominees, Doreen emerged as one of the top five awardees.

BlossomCare proves what’s possible when technology meets empathy.

With Eden AI’s multilingual LLM technology and BGOF’s compassionate outreach, a simple phone becomes a gateway to healing, dignity, and human connection. The message is clear: even in the most stigmatised corners of society, digital innovation and grassroots leadership can light the path forward.
