Katsina village head in custody over alleged bandit links

Bandit

Security forces have arrested the Village Head of Sukutum in Kankiya Local Government Area of Katsina State over allegations of working with armed bandits.

The traditional ruler, whose identity is yet to be officially disclosed, was picked up following intelligence reports linking him to criminal gangs terrorising the area.

Sources revealed that the suspect is accused of supplying the bandits with sensitive information, including the movement of security operatives and details of vulnerable communities, allegedly enabling deadly attacks.

Investigators also allege that the village head maintained direct contact with the criminals, even visiting their hideouts to coordinate activities.

Authorities confirmed he is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation to uncover the extent of his role and identify other collaborators.

Katsina has been one of the hardest-hit states in the country’s fight against banditry, with rural communities facing repeated assaults despite ongoing military operations.
