Drop out, skip classes, lose your visa – US alerts Nigerian students
The United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a stern reminder to Nigerian students studying in the US to comply with the terms of their student visas.
In a tweet shared on Tuesday, August 13, 2025, the Mission warned that students who drop out, skip classes, or leave their program of study without notifying their schools risk having their visas revoked. The statement also highlighted that such violations could affect eligibility for future US visas.
The Mission urged students to maintain their student status and adhere strictly to all visa requirements to avoid complications.
“Always follow the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to prevent any issues,” the statement said.
The reminder comes amid growing concerns about international students failing to comply with US visa regulations, which can have serious consequences for both current and future travel plans.
