Police have listed arrest of members of Black Axe confraternity and other suspects involved in armed robbery, motorcycle snatching among the recent achievements of its operatives in Enugu State.
Also two firearms, seven live rounds of ammunition, a stolen motorcycle, and other incriminating exhibits were recovered during the operations, according to a statement by the Enugu Police Command,
SP Daniel Ndukwe on Saturday.
Giving details of the arrests, the Enugu Police Command said on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., operatives attached to the Crack Tactical Squad of the Command, while on routine patrol in the Abakpa area of Enugu, arrested a male suspect riding a black motorcycle and exhibiting suspicious behaviour.
He added that the suspect, a 27-year-old Tochukwu Edeh was searched, leading to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol loaded with seven rounds of .9mm ammunition, concealed in a black bag in his possession.
“In a separate operation on August 10, 2025, at about 5a.m., operatives of the Command’s Anti-Cultism Squad, acting on the confessions of two notorious suspects already in custody for armed robbery and cultism, arrested three additional male suspects – Odoh Friday (aged 24), Okamkpa Onyeka Chukwu (aged 22), and Uzor Okwudili (aged 23).
“All confessed to being members of the Black Axe confraternity,” he said.
According to him, one locally-made single-barrel pistol, one expended cartridge, three blue candle sticks, and quantities of weeds suspected to be cannabis were among the items recovered from the suspects.
Ndukwe said in another operation, on August 9, 2025, at approximately 12:45 p.m., operatives attached to the Oji-River Police Division led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) arrested two male suspects identified as Kosi Ani, 22 years, and Ahmed Ibrahim, aged 29.
The suspects, according to him, were arrested while attempting to sell a snatched Topway motorcycle.
“The arrest and recovery of the motorcycle followed the operatives’ prompt response to credible intelligence.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to having robbed a commercial motorcyclist of the bike at about 9:00 p.m. the previous day.
“Discreet investigations into the cases are ongoing. The arrested suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations,” he disclosed.
