APC wins Adamawa, Kogi, Chikun/Kajuru by-elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa has won Ganye Constituency by-election into the State House of Assembly.
Announcing the results on Sunday in Ganye, Prof. Tukur Ahmed, the INEC Returning Officer, said Musa Misi of APC scored 15,923 votes to defeat Buba Joda of PDP, who scored 15,794 votes.
“Having satisfied the requirements of the law, Musa Misi of APC is here by declared the winner,” he said.
The by-election was held as a result of the demise of Abdulmalik Musa of the APC in May 2024.
Musa appreciated the electorate for the confidence response in him.
He assured that he would actively represent the constituency by facilitating projects that would be of benefit to the constituents.
Martins Babale, former Deputy Governor of the state and APC stalwart, described the election as credible and peaceful.
Babale commended the Federal Government for commencing the rehabilitation of the 40 years abandoned Ganye-Bulo-Jada Road.
In the same vein, Mr Hassan Shado of the APC has been declared winner of the Dekina-Okura II Federal Constituency by-election held on Saturday in Kogi.
Prof. Emmanuel Enenche-Onome, INEC Returning Officer, announced the results on Sunday.
Enenche-Onome said Shado scored a total of 55,073 votes to beat his closest rivals; Meliga Godwin of PDP and Egene Joseph Ugbede of Allied Peoples Movement (APM) who scored 1,038 and 445 votes respectively.
He said, “I do hereby declare that Mr Hassan Shado having scored the highest votes, and is hereby returned the winner of the Dekina-Okura II by-election in Kogi.”
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the election, which recorded low turnout, saw six out of the 18 registered political parties contested the election.
The parties are Accord Party, African Democratic Congress, All Progressives Congress; Allied People’s Movement, Social Democratic Party and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The by-election was conducted to fill the vacancy created by the death of a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Enema Paul, on Dec.14, 2024, following a protracted illness.
Also in Kaduna, Mr Fidelix Bagudu of the APC has emerged winner of Saturday’s by-election for the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of the state.
The results were announced by Prof. Abubakar Jumare, Returning Officer at INEC office on Sunday in Kaduna.
Jumare declared that Bagudu scored 34,580 votes to defeat his closest rival of the PDP who secured 11,491 while ADC candidate recorded ADC 3,477 votes.
The results gave Bagudu a wide margin of 23,089 votes leading to his victory at the polls.
