Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has thrown shade at his predecessor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, declaring that social media noise cannot deliver electoral victories.

Speaking at an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Kaduna after the party’s victory in Saturday’s by-elections, Sani mocked opposition figures who he said were busy building castles on Twitter and Facebook while the ruling party went to the grassroots to secure real votes.

“There is no ballot box on Twitter. There is no ballot box on Instagram or Facebook. Elections are won at the grassroots, not on social media,” Sani said, drawing thunderous applause from APC loyalists.

The Governor insisted that while opponents were fighting a “propaganda battle” online, the APC chose to connect with real people through inclusivity and governance.

“Our opponents wasted their time on social media noise-making. We focused on the people, and the people know who is truly working for them,” he added.

Sani described the APC’s triumph as historic, noting that it broke political barriers in communities that had never voted for the party since 1999.

“Since 1999, some communities never voted APC. But today, they stood with us because they saw inclusivity in action. We promised to defend everyone, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or party — and we kept it,” he declared.

Looking ahead to 2027, Sani urged APC executives to stick to the party manifesto and maintain strong grassroots ties, warning that only genuine connection with the people can guarantee future victories.

Also speaking, APC State Chairman, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (rtd.), called for unity within the party, saying no ambition should be placed above the collective survival of the APC.

“This is not the time for blame games. No aspiration is too big to be sacrificed for the unity, peace, and progress of our party. Together, we can restore people’s confidence and return APC to winning ways,” he said.
