Lagos to welcome world stakeholders for 2025 gas investment summit

Quick Read

GIF projections show that Sub-Saharan Africa will contribute about 92 percent of Africa's total natural gas demand growth by 2050.

Nigeria is set to host global investors and key industry leaders at the 2025 edition of the Gas Investment Forum (GIF) this October in Lagos.

The two-day event will be led by Olu Verheijen, Special Adviser on Energy to President Bola Tinubu, who will deliver the keynote address and serve as the Chief Host.

Event Director Osaze Isesele announced this in Abuja, noting that the forum has evolved into a key platform for advancing investment in Nigeria’s gas sector.

Confirmed speakers include:

  • Ed Ubong, Coordinating Director of the Decade of Gas Secretariat
  • NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman, African Energy Chamber
  • Akachukwu Nwokedi, President, Nigeria Gas Association
  • Wole Ogunsanya, Chairman, Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria
  • Andrea Stegher, President, International Gas Union
  • David Oluseyi Ige, Non-Executive Director at NNPC Ltd and CEO, GasInvest Ltd
  • Abiodun Ogunjobi, Group CTO, Panocean Newcross Group
  • Eyono Fatayi-Williams, President, Women in Energy Network
  • Damilola Owolabi-Osinusi, CEO, Selai Gas Station Ltd
  • Oga Adejo-Ogiri, Executive Secretary, Association of Local Distributors of Gas

Themed “Charting New Opportunities for Investment, Growth & Industrialisation,” the forum will bring together government officials, policymakers, investors, and energy executives to discuss Nigeria’s gas monetisation strategy and its industrialisation ambitions across West Africa.

The event is endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and co-hosted by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, reflecting strong public-private alignment.

Osaze Isesele described the forum as a strategic venue for identifying investment opportunities, forming partnerships, and showcasing innovations that support Nigeria’s Decade of Gas policy.

The forum will also feature a trade exhibition for companies to present technologies and investment-ready projects to potential partners.

Organisers say the gathering will play a key role in regional energy integration and the sustainable development of West Africa.

GIF projections show that Sub-Saharan Africa will contribute about 92 percent of Africa’s total natural gas demand growth by 2050.

Nigeria alone is expected to add over 75 billion cubic meters of gas between 2023 and 2050, driven by rising gas-powered electricity generation, industrial expansion, and the growth of petrochemical and fertilizer plants.
