“My suspension will cause chaos,” Ogun chief warns

The Asiwaju of Orile Imo, High Chief Olakunle Olalekan, has warned that his suspension by the monarch of Orile Imo Oba Reuben Sogaolu and his traditional councils will cause chaos in the town.
He, however, called on the state govt to quickly intervene in the matter to avoid chaos in the town.
Olakunle who said this on Tuesday during a press conference, disclosed that his chieftaincy title was given to him during the reign of the late monarch of Olu of Orile Imo in 2018.
He posited that the move of Oba Reuben Sogaolu to withdraw his chieftaincy title was to create chaos in the town, urging the state government to intervene.
Olakunle who is also the Chairman of Baales in Councils of Orile Imo maintained that the said Oba still has court cases against his Obaship validity, adding that he has no authority or right to suspend him from his chieftaincy title as “Asiwaju Orile Imo”
He boasted that as Asiwaju of Orile Imo; he has contributed more to the town’s development while calling on the monarch to focus more on development rather than using his office to maltreat his subjects

According to him, “I want to appeal to the Governor of Ogun state, as usual he is a man of the people to intervene to prevent the looming crisis in Orile Imo, and caution Oba Reuben Sogaolu to stay off from suspension being of his chieftaincy title to avoid crisis in Orile Imo”
“We know that the Governor is a Prince. He knows the rules and regulations of tradition and customs. We don’t want a crisis in Orile Imo. It is unjust for the monarch to just wake up one day and decide to suspend someone of his chieftaincy title. ”
“I remain Asiwaju of Orile Imo, I have been installed as Asiwaju of Orile Imo since 2018 during the reign of late Oba Olatunji Olubiyi (Soloko1) there is veto power of minus Chief to install or remove anyone of their chieftaincy, even in the chieftaincy law of Ogun State 2001, Coronate Obas only have a little chance than the Baales. So they have no power to remove or install anyone or deperive them of their their chieftaincy title”.
“I urged Oba Reuben Sogaolu to equip himself with more knowledge by ensuring that he promotes unity in the town, facilitates development instead of threatening his subjects with his chieftaincy title”.
Also, speaking at the conference, Baale of Kajola Chief Ayinde Gbadamosi, who spoke on behalf of not less than 40 Baales at the conference, urged Oba Reuben to halt his move to suspend High Chief Olakunle Olalekan’s chieftaincy title as “Asiwaju of Orile Imo”.
Also in his position the Youth leader General of Orile Imo Chief. Jimoh Olorunsogo also kicked against the monarch, adding that all the youth in Orile Imo are fully in support of Asiwaju of Orile Imo.
Meanwhile, the Orile Imo traditional council had earlier issued a resolution to suspend High Chief Olakunle Olalekan as Asiwaju of Orile Imo with effect from August 12th 2025.
