Olarokun family honours former council chief, celebrates Opeifa’s appointment

All roads, led to Orile Agege on Wednesday, as sons and daughters of the community came from all walks of life to celebrate the annual Olarokun Day in grand style.

It was a day of pump, and ceremony as the Olarokun Day was usually set aside to celebrate one of the foremost families in Orile Agege, and saw all the family branch members come together to celebrate the bond of love that unites them.

It was a moment of pride for the Opeifa family of the Ilediju branch of the Olarokun family stood shoulder to shoulder with other branches of the great Olarokun lineage to witness the installation of Prince Ajibola Arowolo as the new Olori Ebi of Olarokun Chieftaincy family, Orile Agege.

The memorable event drew the presence of notable dignitaries and members of the family, including the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa.

Among other dignitaries, at the event was the former Chairman of Orile Agege, Hon. Johnson Sunday Babatunde, who was honoured with an award of Excellence, with a plaque of Good Leadership in Grassroots Governance, for his exemplary commitment and contributions to the growth and development of the Orile Agege community.

The recognition was especially memorable as it was presented to the former council chief by the newly installed Ọlarokun family head.

Another highlight of the day was the official opening of the rehabilitated Ọlarokun Mosque and the Olarokun Arc, at the entrance of the family house. Both, were completed under the leadership of Hon. Babatunde as the Chairman, Orile Agege LCDA. Both will stand as lasting monuments to the family’s faith and heritage.

The new family head Prince Arowolo lauded members of the family for bringing fame and praises to the Olarokun Family. In particular, he praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the honour accorded the family for appointing one of their sons, Dr Kayode Opeifa, as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation.

He said: The strides of our son, Dr Kayode Opeifa, in the nation’s oldest public corporation is one that is bringing inestimable pride to the entire family”.

He observed that the Olarokun Family celebration was more than just an event, but a celebration of unity, leadership, faith, and pride for both the Olarokun family and the entire Orile Agege community.
