Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has thrown his full weight behind President Bola Tinubu, declaring openly that he will only support those who support the President.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has thrown his full weight behind President Bola Tinubu, declaring openly that he will only support those who support the President.

Wike made the blunt statement on Thursday in Karu during the flag-off of Lot 2 of the Water Supply Projects, where he praised former FCT senator, Philip Aduda, and Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairman, Christopher Maikalangu, for using their access to government to deliver real projects to the people.

“There is a road where you said is about 2km, is it not? Consider it done,” Wike assured Aduda. “Support those who have capacity to bring something to the people. Support those that government will listen to. Anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him.”

The FCT Minister showered encomiums on AMAC chairman, Maikalangu, describing him as “very good and hardworking” and noting that the council boss had pushed the government to deliver multiple road projects across the area. He went further to promise him total backing if he wins re-election, regardless of his political party.

“The chairman has access to us. Anything he tells us, we will do,” Wike stressed. “This is the only man I know. If he wins as chairman of AMAC, we will give him whatever he wants. I don’t know the party he belongs to. But I know that he supports Tinubu. Anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him.”

Wike also took a swipe at past administrations, accusing them of abandoning Karu communities and failing to provide basic needs like potable water. He insisted that the Tinubu government had already proven itself by fulfilling its promise to deliver water to satellite towns.

“We have had a government who stayed here for five years, isn’t that correct? Another stayed eight years, is that correct? Did they give you water? This government promised, and today we are here giving you water,” he said, as the crowd cheered.

Wike urged residents to tie their loyalty to Tinubu’s administration, reminding them that “agreement is agreement” and that it is only right to remember the government that remembered them.
