Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested 27-year-old Umar Adamu Umar of Fagge Local Government Area, Kano, with 9 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa (Colorado), seized in 19 parcels.
The NDLEA operatives attached to the Kiru Area Command of the Kano Strategic Command, picked Umar along Zaria–Kano road on 6 August, 2025.
The drug baron was intercepted, whlie conveying the substance from Lagos to Kano.
Umar has confirmed his involvement in the illegal drug trade and has been under surveillance by the Command since his arrest.
The seized substance has an estimated street value in excess of N10 million.

Kano Strategic Command, in a Statement, said: “This interception represents a significant financial blow to the illicit network behind the consignment:
“It denies traffickers substantial revenue, disrupts their supply chain and distribution channels, and reduces funds available for further criminal activity. Removing this quantity from circulation also helps protect vulnerable communities from the social and economic harms associated with the trade in narcotics.
“The command under the leadership of ACGN AI Ahmad will continue to intensify patrols and intelligence‑led operations to ensure that illicit substances do not find their way into our dear Kano.”
