In a dramatic twist at the bustling Arena Market, Oshodi, soldiers of the Nigerian Army’s 9 Brigade, Ikeja, apprehended a 36-year-old man, Animashaun Khalid, who had been parading himself as a senior military officer.

Khalid, caught with a forged Army identity card bearing the rank of Major, was swiftly arrested before unsuspecting traders and immediately handed over to the Lagos State Police Command.

The seamless transfer highlighted the growing synergy between the Army and Police in tackling criminal impostors who exploit public trust.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the case has been assigned to its Special Squad I for a thorough investigation.

The police said detectives would trace the source of the forged ID, uncover possible accomplices, and determine whether Khalid’s impersonation was used to carry out other crimes.

Authorities assured that the suspect would face charges in court once investigations are concluded.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, hailed the Army’s decisive action and urged residents to remain alert to suspicious characters exploiting the authority of security uniforms.
