The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Chadian referee Alhadji Mahamat to take charge of Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
The encounter is scheduled for Friday, September 6, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, where the Super Eagles will host the Amavubi of Rwanda in a crucial Group C clash.
Mahamat will be assisted by compatriots Djimetolngar Ndolamb Ngomaram and Bamina Kontitsengar as first and second assistant referees, respectively. Djimetolngar Ndolamrdji will serve as the fourth official.
CAF has also named Mauritian referee Ahmad Imtehaz Heeralall as referee assessor, while Ghana’s Justice Yeboah will act as match commissioner.
Nigeria goes into the fixture on the back of a 1-1 draw against South Africa in Uyo and a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic in Abidjan. Rwanda, meanwhile, shocked South Africa 2-0 in their previous outing.
The Super Eagles, under new coach Finidi George, are seeking a return to form as they continue their push for a place at the 2026 World Cup to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
