Alert! Bombs to rock Eko Atlantic City Thursday

The Lagos State Police Command has announced it will conduct an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) simulation exercise at Eko Atlantic City on Thursday.

This is part of its ongoing efforts to enhance emergency preparedness and response capabilities.

The exercise, aimed at bolstering the police’s ability to handle bomb-related threats, will involve controlled detonations carried out by specialized units trained in managing explosive devices.

According to a statement by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Police Public Relations Officer for the Lagos State Command, the exercise will produce blast sounds audible in and around Eko Atlantic City.

However, the public has been assured that these detonations pose no risk, as there will be no shrapnel or associated dangers.

Residents, workers, and visitors in the area are advised to remain calm, continue their lawful activities, and refrain from panicking when they hear the sounds.

The Lagos State Police Command emphasized that robust safety measures have been implemented to ensure the protection of lives and property during the exercise.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, appealed for public cooperation and understanding, underscoring the importance of the simulation in strengthening the state’s security framework.

“The Command remains committed to the safety, security, and well-being of all Lagosians,” the statement read.
