Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a deal in principle to sign Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare from Belgian club Genk for €27 million.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano announced on X.
The 24-year-old is set to undergo a medical on Saturday, marking a significant step in Wolves’ mission to strengthen their attacking options as the summer transfer window nears its close.
The agreement comes as Wolves aim to address their offensive struggles following a challenging start to the 2025-26 Premier League season, with losses in their opening two matches, including a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City.
Arokodare, who finished as the Belgian Jupiler Pro League’s top scorer last season with 17 goals in 30 appearances, brings a proven goalscoring pedigree.
His 23 goals and seven assists across all competitions for Genk in 2024-25, combined with his imposing 6’6” frame, make him a formidable presence in the box.
Romano’s post highlighted the urgency of the deal, stating, “Wolves agree deal in principle to sign Tolu Arokodare as new striker from Genk, here we go! €27m fee agreed with Genk tonight and medical booked on Saturday for #WWFC new striker.”
The move follows Wolves’ failed attempt to sign Getafe’s Christantus Uche, with negotiations collapsing over personal terms despite an agreed fee.
Under manager Vitor Pereira, Wolves have been reshaping their squad, with recent additions including Jhon Arias, Fer Lopez, and centre-back Ladislav Krejci.
Arokodare’s arrival is expected to provide both cover and competition for Jorgen Strand Larsen, whose future at Molineux has been the subject of speculation amid rejected bids from Newcastle United.
Romano and other sources confirm that Arokodare’s signing is not contingent on Larsen’s departure, signaling Wolves’ intent to deepen their attacking options.
Arokodare’s mobility and aerial strength, despite needing refinement in his hold-up play, have drawn comparisons to a “target man” with the potential to thrive in the Premier League’s physical demands.
