EPL: Amorim hints at Manchester United exit
Quick Read
Manchester United currently sit under intense scrutiny, with their domestic performances falling short of expectations. The Burnley game is now seen as a must-win encounter, not only for the team but also for Amorim’s hopes of staying in the job.
Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has admitted he cannot guarantee he will remain in charge of the club beyond the upcoming international break, even though he wants to continue leading the team.
Amorim has been under growing pressure since United’s shock elimination from the Carabao Cup at the hands of League Two side, Grimsby Town, on Wednesday night. The embarrassing defeat has fueled doubts over his long-term future at Old Trafford, with sections of the fanbase openly calling for a change in leadership.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of United’s Premier League clash with Burnley, Amorim was asked if he was sure of keeping his job after the break.
“I don’t know what is going to happen,” the Portuguese tactician replied. “That is my idea [to continue], but I’m not going to promise you anything about what the future will be. I am the manager of Manchester United, and I think that is not going to change.”
Despite the uncertainty, Amorim insists he is focused on turning United’s form around, beginning with Saturday’s fixture against Burnley at Old Trafford. He maintains that his commitment to the club and players remains firm, stressing that results in the coming weeks will be vital.
